Mark built his career around one purpose: defending people. From his first day in a courtroom,
he committed to fighting for his clients with passion, preparation, and relentless purpose. That
commitment has never wavered.
Born and raised on the Westside of Atlanta, Mark is a product of Atlanta Public Schools and a
proud graduate of North Atlanta High School. As a four-sport athlete, he developed discipline,
teamwork, and the drive to compete at the highest level. He knows this city. He knows its
people. And when he walks into a courtroom, his clients know he truly understands where they
come from.
Built for the Courtroom
Mark’s path to becoming a trial attorney began long before law school. He walked on to the
football team at Savannah State University, earned his spot through hard work, and by his senior
year had secured a full scholarship. His teammates voted him Team Captain, and that season the
team went on to achieve real success on the field. He graduated from Savannah State University
in 2016, cum laude, with a degree in Global Logistics and International Business.
That same drive followed him into law. At the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg
College of Law, he found his calling: trial advocacy. He entered and won multiple trial advocacy
competitions, sharpening the courtroom instincts that define his practice today. During his final
year, he attended UGA School of Law as a visiting student, won the American Association for
Justice (AAJ) Regional Championship, and advanced to compete on the national stage. He
graduated from the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law in 2023 and
passed the bar exam on his first attempt.
He didn’t just study the law. He competed in it. And he won.
Forged in the Trenches
Mark did not wait until after graduation to start fighting for people. As a second-year law
student, he interned at the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office, where he got his first direct
experience inside the criminal justice system and what it truly means to stand between the
government and a person fighting for their freedom.
During his third year at UGA School of Law, he joined the Georgia Public Defenders Council’s
High-Profile Gang and RICO Unit, one of the most demanding and complex areas of criminal
defense in the state.
After graduating, he stayed with the Gang and RICO Unit as an Associate Attorney, traveling
across Georgia to handle multi-county indictments involving multiple co-defendants. He tried
case after case, building a depth of courtroom experience that most attorneys never reach.
He then moved into private practice, joining W. Scott Smith, P.C. and Peach State Lawyers,
where he went undefeated at trial and successfully secured the release of many clients. Each
victory reinforced what he already knew: he was built for this work.
With that record behind him, he took the next step and opened the Mark Lee Law Firm.
